What is Betrays about?
Humanity lives inside the Mother. Its rulers decide who she eats.
Thandie is a cartographer. She maps the body of the Mother, traces its veins, and finds the food that keeps her people alive. She is less skilled at keeping her mouth shut.
When she learns the food is running out and how the nobles plan to fix it, the one person she trusts hands her over. Branded a heretic, she flees from the high towers of the surface down into the sewers, through living conduits and breathing shafts. Now she is nameless.
Down there, her knowledge buys her protection, an ambitious new owner, and three outcasts who are the closest thing to family she has ever had. But in the sewers, every favor is a debt. And to keep her friends alive, Thandie will have to learn to talk less and betray more.
A grimdark fantasy of living flesh, vicious politics, and friendships forged in hunger.
No stone. No metal. No mercy.
